About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Payroll Implementation to oversee and manage the payroll implementation process for new clients. In this role, you will lead key functions, including payroll system setup, tax configuration, accruals, time and labor management (TLM), and general ledger (GL) integration. This position will collaborate closely with the Implementation Director and Implementation Project Manager to understand client needs, ensure accuracy, and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.

Your Responsibilities
Client Onboarding and Payroll Setup
  • Collaborate with clients to gather payroll data and ensure all necessary information is collected for accurate payroll processing.
  • Configure and set up payroll systems in accordance with client-specific needs, including tax, benefits, deductions, and other payroll components.
  • Lead kickoff meetings to communicate project timelines, deliverables, and expectations with clients.
Project Management
  • Manage multiple payroll implementation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of each project milestone.
  • Develop project plans, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure payroll systems are configured accurately and delivered on time.
  • Communicate regularly with internal and external stakeholders to provide updates and manage expectations.
System Testing and Quality Assurance
  • Oversee end-to-end testing of payroll systems to ensure accuracy and functionality before the first payroll run.
  • Identify and troubleshoot any system issues, errors, or discrepancies during the testing phase.
  • Perform quality assurance to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Client Training and Support
  • Provide comprehensive training to clients on payroll system functionalities and processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients during the implementation process, answering questions, and providing ongoing support.
  • Guide clients through their first payroll runs to ensure accuracy and provide real-time assistance.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure payroll processes are compliant with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of client payroll configurations, implementation milestones, and project documentation.
  • Stay updated on payroll laws, tax codes, and compliance issues that may affect client payroll setups.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
  • Work closely with internal teams (HR, finance, benefits, and IT) to align payroll implementation with other organizational functions.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors (e.g., benefits providers) to ensure proper integration with payroll systems.
  • Post-Implementation Review and Handoff
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to ensure successful payroll operations.
  • Transition clients to the ongoing support team once the implementation is complete, ensuring a smooth handoff with all relevant documentation.

This Role is a Good Fit if You

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
  • Have 10+ years of progressive experience in payroll processing and management.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and multi-state payroll compliance.
  • Are proficient in payroll software and HRIS systems, with experience in UKG Ready preferred.
  • Excel at using advanced features of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
  • Have strong leadership and managerial skills, with a proven track record of leading and developing payroll teams.
  • Hold a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification (preferred but not required).

The salary range for this role is up to $115,000. Actual compensation packages within that range are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth and years of experience, certifications, and specific location.
